About the Zine

Fallopian Falafel – אשת חיל is a non-profit, Jerusalem-based feminist zine established in May, 2007. It deals with feminism in Israel, in all its forms of expression (third-wave, riot grrrl, religious movements, etc.), and it aims to spread awareness about the ongoing need for feminism to the Israeli public. It is worth noting that despite its secular leftist nature, the zine is neither anti-religious nor anti-Zionist.

Who knows number 9? Nine months of pregnency. That's right! Issue 9 of Fallopian Falafel will focus on the female power of creating life, and the female right to her own body as well. As abortion is legal in Israel, many of the pro-choice articles may focus on other countries where the struggle for abortion rights is still raging. And since most of the articles I already received are mildly to extremely pro-life (sigh), I am calling out to all the PRO-CHOICE advocates out there!
Send me your submission on anything including:
- The late Dr. George Tiller
- The ongoing struggle to make abortions legal
- The ongoing struggle to make abortion accessible to women in the lower echelons of society
- A tribute to the women who died during illegal abortions
- Choice: the forgotten freedom in a democratic society
- Art/poetry on the symbolism of coat hangers
- A powerful word on a woman's right to her own body
- Holistic methods of abortion
- Any other ideas you may have on the topic
Write to fallopian.falafel@gmail.com for all inquiries and contributions!
